From May to June 2020, in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, hundreds of elephants died of unknown causes in Botswana, Africa
Hundreds of elephants died unexpectedly in Botswana, Africa.
On June 15, wildlife officials in Botswana said they were investigating the mysterious death of at least 154 elephants in the northwest of the country for two months, but ruled out the cause of poaching or poisoning.
Elephants have died in large numbers since early May, but the government of Republic of Angola has been slow to respond.
According to reports, dead elephants cover all ages, both male and female. Most elephants die near the water source. Witnesses claimed that some elephants were hobbled in circles before they died, which may mean that their brains may be affected by some kind of neurotoxin.
